Stones and Shuttles – 27th July

No modelling session would be complete without a photo of Ballasting Dave. Every so often he gets some respite from the stone laying process by spending time mixing ballast and glue.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the clubhouse, the new control panel for the O Gauge Test Track has been mounted below the test tracks. Next week, when Malcolm and Dremel are here, the connection to the track will begin.

The new panel has three modes of connection: –

  • allows the connection of an external DC or DCC controller using the red and block binding posts on the left of the panel
  • the central section of the panel allows the track to be used as a shuttle using DC inertial control
  • there is also a DC controller on the right hand side of the panel.

Once this has been connected, trials will then be carried out with the DMU to be used on Dockland. The inertial controllers will be used and a new panel will be constructed for dockland with the same four controls: –

  • Maximum speed
  • Deceleration
  • Acceleration
  • Dwell time at each end.
